Tracing the Footsteps of the Past
The Jewish Religious Community in Nitra informs those interested in the history
of the Jewish community, as well as in the fates of families and individuals who once
lived in Nitra and its surroundings, that it does not possess any archival materials,
registers, or other documents that could serve as sources of information for their
research.
The Jewish cemetery in Nitra is open to the public and those interested in history
every Thursday and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Lists of burial sites are not
available; graves can only be identified based on the inscriptions on them. For visits
on other days, please contact: +421 917 420 640
Additional information about the history of Jews in Nitra can be found in the panel
exhibition at the Nitra Synagogue, which is also accessible in English via a QR code.
Further information can also be found in the publication Encyclopedia of Jewish
Religious Communities, published in several volumes by the Museum of Jewish
Culture in 2010.
Those interested in researching the past are advised to contact the relevant state
archives.
